Database error or what? Units getting new unit types and symbols???
Hi,
Playing latest official patch (1.0.6.1108r9) in a PBEM.
Just noticed that (at least) two of my units have switched unit types. The IV Indian Corps HQ is now an AA unit, and one of my Indian Artillery units have become an armor unit? See pictures appended below. Is this something simple that I can fix in some way or must I hand in a save?
Checked the tech support thread some pages back, but couldn't find anyone else with this problem.

Open the scenario you are playing in the editor and find the units. The unit number inf the database is the number in the upper left corner of the unit screen.

Have never ever used the editor before.
I found the ground units when looking under the "location" and "scenario" tab. What am I supposed to do then?
ETA; When looking at the basic scenario, the units look ok.
ETA2; I also know that they have had correct unit types before. This has happened in any of our last turns.

I had that happen and Michael found a bug (maybe multiple) and fix it (them) long ago in the current Beta series.

I believe that it is fixed, related to the same issue where a LCU would change to a different type (it was noticed more where the LCU changed to a 'base', but could apply to any case where the unit suffix got randomly overridden)
Fixed Correct LCUs that change to base (type 6) in beta 1110
You drop in a save and I can verify if you like

Ok, last save I recieved from my opponent attached. Please note, however, that we are not running the beta patch. We are a little conservative on that issue [:)]

This one looks to be opposite to what I expected. The 'type' is right but 'suffix' (variant of the type) wrong.
Don't suppose you have a save just before it changed??

I was going to setup an auto-fix for this problem, but cant rely on the 'suffix' being correct, as a lot of the locations don't have a correct suffix to restore the type from.
I'll fix the suffix when a new scenario is started to stop any possible future error.

Ok, I'll backtrack through the saves and see if I have the one when it happened.

Found them. They didn't change during the same turns.
Attached is first my game save on end of turn (wpae131 1942_04_23) where everything was ok.
Attached to the next post is the japanese return save where one unit has changed type.

RE: Database error or what? Units getting new unit types and symbols???
Two questions;
1/ Am I correct in assuming that changing to the beta would fix this problem?
2/ I assume that this changing of unit type screws up how the units are supposed to work? For the artillery unit that's no big problem as it's still mainly a combat unit. The change IV Indian Corps HQ is a little more grave however. Having an ongoing invasion of India I need that HQ providing its usual benefits to the combats. There's not an abundance of corps HQ's in India in this game time.

RE: Database error or what? Units getting new unit types and symbols???
The underlying cause of problem has been fixed in beta (57. Unit type changing unexpectedly).
The current beta would not restore the type as the suffix can't be warranted to be correct at the moment.
