Updating RA 4.6 TO 5

Post by Cavalry Corp »

I opened and let over copy the files in the scn folder - ok
But when the game started nothing prompted me to accept data changes - should it?

am Japan playing PBEM latest patch etc.

YES. Do the database update. At the same time, make sure your opponent does this to. Should be good after that.

There was no prompt to accept changes John?
Is it right the files are just unzipped in the scn folder - nowhere else?

I just sent the turn back. I think you will have to open the preferences menu and there will be a question at the bottom about updating the database. Answer yes and then I can do the same when I get the turn and after that whatever changes will take, will take.

What does RA 5.0 include (or change) that's not in RA 4.6? Can we update to 5.0 in the middle of a PBEM (without trashing the game)? Thanks.

The changes are fairly simple:

1. FIXED Japanese CA upgrades through the end of the war.
2. FIXED Allied AO to CVE early-war conversions.
3. Airframes and Engine delivers now match each other with Japanese production.
4. FIXED Japanese DDs arriving with the wrong starting upgrade (DDs arriving in mid-42 with mid-44 armaments...OOOPs)
5. Corrected some minor Allied and Japanese air group issues.
6. FIXED CLAA--CL Omaha Conversions and Upgrades.

That is about it.

Should be able to incorporate these without issue.

We updated our game and I am now able to do the AO Neosho to CVE Sangamon conversion. but it is all ready September 1942, and the conversion takes 8 months.

John,

Upgrade all installed

JAP CA Maya is listed as Maya class and has no upgrade? Its Takao class and should have an upgrade path as the others do?

Something to be fixed?

I assume Akitsuki arrivals will now have correct AA radar etc but the ones in play stay as they are?

Thanks for all your ongoing work.

John, thanks for the quick reply. We're only at the end of December 1941, so it looks like this will fix future problems for us.

Well Calvary you were 1 for 2. The Maya upgrades are all correct. I pulled up the screens for each class of Japanese CA and walked through their upgrade and/or (Mogami) conversion paths and they are all good, HOWEVER, your Agano TT issue was dead on.

FIXED. RA 5.1 going to FatR. Sorry guys. This little nit-picky Editor stuff can drive one to drink heavily.

Will Post when 5,1 is available.

I am not sure if this was a 4.6 problem or if it is new in 5.0 but the North Carolina, South Dakota, Washington, Massachusetts, Indiana, Iowa and New Jersey BBs only have 6 x 16 inch guns.

I went back and looked, it appears that it was in 4.6 also. I just never saw it before now. I never really looked at the load outs on the BBs, just put them in a TF and moved them towards a useful port.

Those BBs are fine. The turrets are spread out on the layout due to Port loading capabilities and issues there:

Sorry, my error. I am so used to seeing them at the top of the list, that I didn't really look down to see the lower line. I feel much better now. I thought I was going to have to do battle with 2/3 of my big guns. [:)]

You didn't know THAT is the super-secret aspect of RA??!! Allied BBs get 2/3 of their main armament while the Japanese get 150%. I thought I was being pretty clever...
