Drawing Maps

After reading the MapMaker manual and almost throwing the keyboard by the window, I was wondering if there is any sofware one can use to create a map from a scan?

How do you people proceed?

First decide to either draw a free hand map or to create an underlay map for tracing over.....for using a scan of a map,create a bitmap underlay.. Read the Draw Map/Use Bitmap Underlays section of the MapMaker Manual....Not difficult to do after a couple of tries..[:)]For the most part I just have used maps I have downloaded off of the internet..Though quality of the downloaded maps can be poor sometimes..
Not sure about other software for creating scans....Have not tried that yet...Perhaps a library could make a scan for you?

I'm using maps found on the internet and google earth.
So it's back to create an underlay map and start drawing on it.
