Saved game .gam
I saw that in .gam files I make with a saved game, there is no information concerning the losses of units you had during a game (seems the information disappeared in the .gam file)
So when I make some modifications in my .gam file, and I convert it into a scenario file, all the loss are put to zero. Someone knows if there is a way to
keep the losses information you have during a game in a .gam (or another way to do it if I can edit the informations before creating again a scen file…)
Thanks !

RE: Saved game .gam
A late answer is better than none.
How do you make a .gam file out of a saved game? IIRC you can only export a scenario file as a .gam (xml) file. Do you rename the save game from .sal to .sce and load it into the editor to export it then as a .gam file?
Apart from that, a scenario always starts with no losses, so i would think there is no way to conserve losses data no matter how you come to your .sce file.

Hello
yes i rename from .sal to .sce.
you are right, seems there is no way to keep losses (as current day of the scenario as
when you load again the saved game, it take the first day of the scenario).
The only way i found (but not verify completely if all is right or not), is to
count each time in the log file in saved game directory, the lost for each fight for each unit type.

RE: Saved game .gam
The game produces a csv file for each turn. You can load this into excel and sort the data.
EDIT: Column F are losses. You have to mark columns B to F, then sort, to keep the data linked.

Or look here: fb.asp?m=2484483
a Java application that reads the sitreplog.csv files and produces a loss charter per turn in html format.

Load files
You can load all the logfiles into Excel and do pivotal table and graphs on it too.
So losses Per gameturn (alas US dateformat doesn't sort OK, yet)

RE: Load files
And As of now I haven't bothered with mapping hexes to maps but
I did a quick fix and divided hex position by 10 and gave those with combat a name
So here we got losses per area: (top 20 areas)

And last
by selecting Tanks only and German force got Tank lossses per gameturn:
It would be really nice to access formations and unit Supply and readiness too..
Cheers

Very interesting! For bonus points, do a bubble graph and then overlay over the map itself....
"What did you read at university?"
"War Studies"
"War? Huh. What is it good for?"
"Absolutely nothing."

There is a bunch of utilities who makes one file out of many but the "simplest way":
First copy all log-files to a new directory Like C:\temp1
Then open a command window and use cd command to get to that directory
now just write copy *.csv OneFile.csv
Then open OneFile.csv in Excel
Add column headers on top of each column.
mark the whole area and "Insert" - "New Pivotal graph"
(As you notice I added some extra columns to the right)

RE: Load files
and then from the area to the Right "PivotTable filed list"
Drag down the fields (column names) in the boxes below.
The value field has a bad tendency to get counted (number of rows) rather than summed (sum of number in field) so Check it says Sum of values and not count of values!

Do you have a clever way to convert a hex to Long-Lat ?
Mr Le May made a small basic utility that generated LongLat for a map but I need the algorithm
(Most probably out there in the net) And if someone got a clever way to generate Hex shaped polygons in a Geospatial format I could start doing funny things.
Point is I need to play around with Microsoft BI suite (SSAS/SSIS/Reporting Services) to test things I have not done professional life.
but I can't waste that much time on inventing clever code that's game specific.

RE: Load files
Thanks for the info, especially how to simply merge several csv files into one file with the command line. Didn't know that this was possible.[:)]
I have no problem with creating pivot tables, diagrams etc. However your guide is very helpful. But you might want to list which column is which data... especially column H. See the screenshot from an imported .csv file in LibreOffice:
EDIT: Forget about the 0 before Hex x/y - it's a typo..

RE: Load files
It's in Ralph's replies to Larry F. in the thread about Larry's CSV utility.
As I recall, it's the weight of the eqp_item. The few eqp_items I've checked match up. Dunno why it's there, but if Ralph says so, I believe it.
