Looks like the last beta went official just like Erik Rutins said it would.

Easiest way to get it is thru the game menu's auto updater.

Strange, there's usually a post immediately after a patch to inform us.

Thanks Evil Steve, you're not so bad.[;)]

Erik Rutins said in the latest beta thread, the next patch is gonna be for DW vanilla.

So I guess we will be waiting a while then.

Will we need to upgrade our original DW with the new patch to keep playing RotS or does the RotS game and patch take us into a whole new arena? (I assume that the vanilla DW patch will do some of the things we have in RotS?)

The upcoming update for the original Distant Worlds release will not be necessary if you have upgraded to Return of the Shakturi. It will include some good things for customers that are still playing without the expansion.

DW update

Post by MartialDoctor »

It's nice to see you all updating the original DW.  When I upgraded to the expansion, I was a bit disappointed to see some of the really nice changes in RotS not being applied to the original.  So, it's good to see you all going back to fix that up a bit.

Cool, it's very nice of you to update the original. Haven't seen such support in like never. Not forcing the buyers of the vanilla to buy the expansion in order to get some of the cool features.

Cheers man

Hi guys,

The focus of the update for the original Distant Worlds is to give customers who have not yet purchased the expansion the benefit of the bug fixes and some of the AI improvements we've made during the development and support of the Return of the Shakturi expansion. For the new features, you'll still need to get the expansion.

- Erik

Yeah, I imagined, but the AI improvements are the greatest boon of them all. Thanks a lot anyway.

Hey, bug fixes and AI improvements are more than okay with me! I shan't complain. [:)]
