How many Games sold
Looking at the redirects at the top of the forum there would have to be at least 2,000 Games of this that has been sold by now, Would I be right?

RE: How many Games sold
What would be even more interesting would be the number still trying to play it. I would guess a large number have given up hope, many in frustration. When you read about opinions of this game at other sites (CSW etc) it has an appalling reputation. Very sad really.
RE: How many Games sold
Ok so when did you play it last, and with who?ORIGINAL: Michael T

Have you got the latest patches?
We have 7 Games going at TGHQ and a lot of them have been going for up to 3 years, we cant see problems that no one can live with, we had a few minor issues but in all most players here have a lot of fun.
But of course trying to please everyone is impossible anyway. I guess it comes from how big a heart you have.
And what is CSW? Commission of the Status of Women?
Or are you just trolling this forum [;)]
Also this is not really in line with this thread I started anyway.
RE: How many Games sold
I have been along for the whole ride. From way before the game was even released. I just recently changed my username form krak. I have started numerous PBEM games and all to date have fell apart due to players dropping out due to frustration with bugs and the general clunkiness of the game. I am still here. But I only try to play when I think there is a chance the game might be working ok. You have your head well and truely in the sand if you think this game has any kind of positive reputation in the general computer gaming community. I suggest you check out some other non matrix forums and see for yourself. I want nothing more than for the game to work. But right now and ever sence its release its been plagued with problems. I personally know at least 6 other guys who have only kept playing this game on my insistance to give it another go. I am right now trying once again. But to get 5 other guys to play this who are not IT guru's is not an easy task. BTW they all love the original EIA. This version of the game takes a lot of patience and time to play. That is the point I am trying to make. I think a lot of people have just given up. Play should be fun. Not a labour just to get it to work properly. I notice even at this forum many long time owners of the game are no longer posting here. Probably gave up hope. Thats what I mean by being sad. I am not trying to stir up trouble. Just commenting on the reality of things as they stand. FYI CSW (Consim World) is a prominent wargaming site.

RE: How many Games sold
The game has come a long way since 2008. I can say with confidence that if the current version of the game was the orginal release, this would have been a big hit with the old EIA crowd. Of course they'd still argue over what was wrong with it, but that is 50% of gamers for you. Despite the trouble a couple of games had (about 4 by my counting), most games are running smoothly and without incident, and have been for a very long time.
As you know the forum will be heavily biased to reporting games with troubles over those that are running smoothly, but that is what the forum is for. The forum is for people to report bugs, so they can get fixed, or to ask for help, so they can get answers. Don't be surprised to find the forum filled with posts about wanting changes and fixes. How many times can you post "no problems here"?
What you are seeing in the other forums are reports from players who tried the game back in 2008, and have not tried it again. They should. They'd be pleasantly surprised.
If you are worried about your crew not being able to patch, maybe wait until Marshall gets out the stand alone version out, but the game is ready.

This is an interesting question. The redirect count is not a good measure of how many games are sold, because a) it goes up by one whether someone buys the game or not, and b) there are other ways to buy the game from non-matrix sources which won't appear in the redirect count. I'd like to think 2,000 people bought the game. That would be a lot from the small EIA community. Anyone know how many board games were sold?
RE: How many Games sold
Yes you are right of course, more people say something when there is something wrong, and thats what the forum is for. There is a quiet majority out there that just say nothing and enjoy the game. And your right about that 50% btwORIGINAL: Dancing Bear

Some folk dont understand that reality, and just get effected by hear say and dont attempt to get the full info.....well I suppose they would be hard to please anyway.

RE: How many Games sold
I live in hope that it will all turn out ok. Marshall is dedicated and the people on this forum helpful. I just hope that ultimately the game is 'friendly' to the less computer literate. That is a drawback at the moment compared to other PC games. Thus limiting the pool of potential players. When I see a negative comment about the game on other sites I am tempted to 'go in to bat' for it but I soon realize I would not have much ammo to change their opinions. When we get a single version that is proven to be bug free and fairly user friendly only then can we hope to 'win the hearts and minds' of the general EIA body of players.
RE: How many Games sold
Mate there is no game made in history that people dont complain about, I lot of people dont like playing chess.
I say hey its dont worry me, I will play with someone who does, and at the same time I will be improving my games skills, and while someone who is waiting to play because he doesnt like playing with black chess pieces, eventually I will play with that person who is waiting to see some other colour chess pieces, and because his or her game skills are low because of colour choice I will have fun in beating them.
Strategy is strategy no matter where you find it. Its just people like to use excuses why they shouldnt play, maybe because of a skill problem is what maybe the heart of it.
Im not out there to win hearts and minds for that is an impossible task, its they who should have to take a look at themselves and for them to change.
Ok now thats 5 bucks for the sermen and 5 bucks for the making my fingers bleed! I take Cash Credit Card or Cheque [:'(]
LOL
Maybe its 15,000 Games sold [:)]

BTW they all love the original EIA. This version of the game takes a lot of patience and time to play.
Granted this game EiANW has had its issues. To compare it with computer gaming in general isn't a very good assessment, considering how complex the original boardgame is for 7 face-to-face players. A more fair assessment is how it compares with other pbem software that others are using. The majority of pbem bugs are now fixed and several games are proceeding smoothly, if all games have been updated properly with the correct patch sequence. And obviously that's another issue that needs to get fixed to make this more smooth and fun for everyone. So what's the latest opinion about EiANW v1.08 pbem versus other EiA pbem software, worth it or no? I'm curious how much "better" the other software is, which doesn't require so much patience and time to play.

I think the origional point was a lot of people got fustrated early on and left. We all have to admit that the game had some pretty considerable issues when it came out. However, as a person that started mutliple threads that the game was not playable in the past, I will freely admit that the 4 games I am currently in are all going more or less smoothly. I hope thoes early players, may of which seemed to be very experienced in the tabletop game, get the patches and give it another try. I think they would be much happier. It's not perfect yet, but much, much better
RE: How many Games sold
Marshall what is your estimate between 2,000 and 5,000 or 5,000 to 8,000

OK, OK. A few people have nagged me, so I have purchased the game. I minor problem when installed as it needed 256 MB of RAM to run and I only had 3.5 GB?! It was resolved with the latest patch.
Give me a chance to explor the game a bit more ....

You know, I honestly do not know??? LOL! That sounds funny BUT my reports are dollar based and not qty based. I guess I could figure it out but never really cared LOL! I know it is still selling. It is slightly less than the 95m that HALO III did in day 1 but only slightly
I'm guessing between 8000-10000
