Dang looking at the Bay from 1945 to today is truly amazing, wish I could spend some money going there.

I spent my money in Manilla instead and I don't remember that week because I drank enough saki to keep the Japanese troops happy for 6 months.

Those are some really great photos! I didn't realize how much they turned Iwo into one giant airfield and how you couldn't swing a dead cat (or P51) and not hit another hundred planes or so.

Did You see the amount of Ops Losses they had on Iwo ? By comparison my Ops losses in AE are low.

Yeah, in real life the OPS losses routine was clearly broken.

Well to be fair, only images of crackups are interesting, so they get all the attention. You see very few mundane photo's in the collection. With groups of 100+ planes escorting the bombing raids over Japan for 5 months or so, the number of op losses shown is a minor percentage of what the total numbers of sorties flown off Iwo must have been.

As an example, an op loss percentage of say 2% would mean you'd expect to lose 2 planes every time 100 launched to escort a single raid. That would add up to be a lot of crashes over a five month time span, far more than what we see here. So I think the game has it about right, especially with the write-offs that occur. That's a number most players forget exists, and I don't think they get tallied as op losses in game.
