TOAW I to TOAW III Conversion

Post by Hodge8 »

I am eager to convert some TOAW I scenarios to TOAW III. The scenarios do not load in the TOAW III editor, and I do not have COW.
Is there any way to convert manually, so that at least the scenarios will load in TOAW III?

aparently not - you have to load them into COW.

However a lot of peole have done so for various scenarios and are willing to share those and/or convert scenarios for others - I've had several done through people on here, so perhaps you shuold list the ones you want and see what kind soul will help out [:)]

I now have COW, but I find that it will not open many of my TOAW I scenarios.

Any suggestions ? Are there any guidelines / hints available ?

The TOAW I scenarios need to first be saved in the TOAW I scenario editor, using the most recent patch available for TOAW I. Then, open them up with CoW. You should use CoW's Opart 300 executable to ensure maximum compatability with TOAW III.

That's what I have done (TOAW I v1.07). But no luck opening the scenarios in CoW.

After saving with 1.07, will it allow you to open in CoW using either of Opart, or Opart 300? If it opens in Opart, then try using that to do an intermediate save to make sure it is properly converted to CoW, then open it up with Opart 300, and save it again, before trying to load it into TOAW III.

I don't have TOAW I, and haven't needed to do any of the conversions, so there are those around who have more experience that I have with the whole process. If I'm mistaken about any of this, I trust them to set us straight...[;)]

It definitely won't work with Opart 300 at first. You will have to open and save it in Opart first. Only then you can load it into Opart 300. Been there.

Unfortunately it will open in neither Opart nor Opart300.

CoW was not patched. It is now ! Still no joy. I am now going to have another look at TOAW I to check that it was indeed patched to 1.07.

Maybe try it with a scenario txt dump. Dump the original under TOAW I, load the dump instead the .sce into the Opart editor.

Can you zip them and send them to me at ralphtrickey (at) hotmail (dot) com?

I'll take a look.

Thanks,

Well, TOAW I was not patched to 1.07 !!

So I patched it, and the conversions now work as advertised. Success !

Gentlepeople, I very much appreciate all the help and advise you have given, and so quickly.

I only wish my humble efforts at scenario creation were of sufficient quality to be worthy of your efforts ! Maybe one day ....

Many thanks.

Thanks! Its originally a TOAW I and I wanted to update for TOAW III but do not have COW.

The scenario is called Turning Point and is hosted in a few different sites. I have it too for PM if needed.

Thanks in advance!

Allrighty, then.

Mail it to lzard at verizon dot net and I'll give it the throw, eh?

I don't have T-1, but have everything else....looked about (briefly) and didn't find it. I'd need more than a brief 'name' of a scenario, LOL!
