Turn 10, 19th of December
The Germans are unprepared for this and the next 2 winter turns (Dec. + Jan.). I must make the best of these turns or face annihilation in the German summer offensive.
In the north I attack a German unit from 4 different sides.
And the German 123rd Corps, that dared to enter our forests, is as good as wiped off the map.
Around Moscow a series of successful counter attacks take place... South of Moscow I even wipe out a German artillery unit behind their lines.
Around Stalingrad I do a successful counterattack before retreat behind the river. Next turn more production should arrive here to finally strengthen this front.
In the Caucasus a successful counterattack has started too.
Turn 11, 8th of January 1942
The Germans were trying to build a new supply line through the wilderness in order to outflank Moscow. They are not going to get away with it. The Northern Front and the Moscow front are trying to do a pincer movement to stop the German advance.
Furthermore counterattacks around Moscow were costly and not that effective. The Germans have built a lot of fortifications to aid their defence. That was a good move on their part. However I still managed to creep a few hexes forward north of Moscow.
However in the Caucasus I managed to retake the offensive completely. I drove the enemy all the way back to the Crimea and to Rostov.
And in Stalingrad I am gearing up for defence with some armour in reserve for counter attack.
Turn 12, 28th of January 1942
There is activity all over the front in the larger Moscow Area. I moved in on the northern German pincer movement and encircled them.
More offensive operations directly north and south of Moscow were conducted with success.
I almost took Rostov by storm, but around Stalingrad the situation looks dim. Lot of superior forces there and I hope the pressure around Rostov might relieve Stalingrad eventually. Furthermore I believe the German forces will cut off the connection with Moscow, therefore I changed the chain of command and made HQs Front Don and Front Caucasus self depended on local production and supply.
And this was the last turn of my winter advantage. I look forward with dread to the next German turn.
